Good Morning!  Today is a White Day

Student Council:  Will meet on Friday after school to collect food drive items.

 

6th Grade Math Team:  Is cancelled for tomorrow 

 

Civil Rights will be meeting today at lunch in the Guidance Office

 

Guitar Club:  Will not meet today, but will meet on Friday this week.

 

Kaleidoscope Club:  Will meet on Thursday this week after school in Mrs. Slote's room

 

Boot Camp:  Will meet today after school in Officer Mailman's room

 

Full Shrek Jr. rehearsal will take place tonight from 6-8 pm. Please see Mrs. Andrade with any questions!

 

Fuel Up to play 60 will be hosting a dodgeball tournament after school this Friday, March 30. You must sign up online in order to attend. Come dressed and ready to have some fun with us! Please be ready to take the late bus home or arrange for a ride at 4:00. We hope staff will play with us, too! It will be a fun way to get your 60 minutes of daily physical activity!

 

5th Grade Fun Night: Come on down 5th graders! It’s time for 5th grade Fun Night! The date is Friday, March 30th. The time is 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Cost for entry is $4.00 - $3.00 with a Falcon Card

 

Student Council Food Drive: The food drive continues this week. Items will be donated to the Community Center to benefit people in need in our community.  Thank you to all who contribute!


Yearbook Club:  Will meet directly after school on Tuesday, April 3rd, in Mrs. Beckwith's room 

 

A reminder to all GT art students:  Your next GT Art meeting will be held during lunch in the library on Tuesday, April 10th.  Please bring all of your project work to this meeting.

 

Band and Chorus News:  It’s a busy month in the band and chorus realm.  Make note of the following dates in case you want to attend one of these wonderful concerts!:

  

5th Grade Band News:  Beginning the week of March 26:  Sectional classes begin again.  Trumpets on Monday, Clarinets and Saxophones on Wednesday, Percussion, Flute and Trombone on Fridays. 

 

Our next full band classes will be on the following dates:  Monday, April 30th, Monday, May 7th, and Monday May 14th. Please mark your calendars!

 

Our final concert of the year will be All City Band at the WHS gymnasium on Tuesday, May 15th @ 7 p.m.  Please note the location!

 

We will also have two parades (music to be memorized):  Memorial Day (May 28) and Together Days (June 2).

 

March 27- 7th Grade Band attends Concert Band Festival at Scarborough HS.  Students will be departing at 3 p.m.  Performance is at 4:30 p.m. and a clinic will follow.  Students should arrive back to WMS no later than 6 p.m.  Please be sure students wear concert dress clothes or plan on changing before departure time.  Also, please plan an extra snack in your bag to eat before leaving at 3 p.m.

 

The 6th Grade Band and Chorus concert  has been rescheduled to this Wednesday, March 28th at 7 p.m. in the PAC. 

 

March 28- WMS Wind Ensemble attend Concert Band Festival at Scarborough HS.  Students will be departing at 12:15 p.m. and will be performing at 1:30 p.m.  Students should be returning to WMS no later than 3 p.m.

 

April 4- 8th Grade Band and WHS Bands Spring Concert.  8th Graders will perform at 7 p.m. and are expected to stay for the remainder of the concert.  More information to follow via email.

 

Spring Picture Day is coming up this Wednesday, March 28th.  Students will bring home a form this week that will allow you to choose a pose and a background.  NO MONEY needs to be sent in with this form.  Students will get their pictures back in April and they will be sent home for you to look at.  If you choose to keep some or all of the pictures, you will send in the appropriate payment at that time.  If you do not wish to purchase pictures, please send them back to the school for collection.

Laptop News:  If you were not able to attend the MLTI meeting and you are a parent of a 7th grade student who has not attended aprevious meeting, a video has been posted on the WMS website (westbrookschools.org) that you will be required to watch.  After watching the video, please call the main office at 854-0830 to speak with Principal Wood regarding the video.

Indoor Track:  3:00 - 4:00 p.m. 

 

Swimming: 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. 

 

Wrestling: Home meet vs. Scarborough and Marshwood @ 4:30 p.m. 

 

Spring sports sign-ups will begin today.  All students wishing to participate in a spring sport should check their email and fill out the form to sign up.  All students must have doctor’s proof of a recent physical (within the last 2 years) and turn in completed athletic paperwork.  Any student who has NOT participated in a sport this school year must click on this link  WMS Athletic Participation Forms & have these forms filled out and signed by a parent or guardian.  We offer the following spring sports: 

 

Girls & Boys Outdoor Track – Open to grades 6.7 & 8

Girls & Boys Lacrosse – Open to grades 7 & 8 only

Girls Softball – Open to grades 7 & 8 only

Boys Baseball – Open to grades 7 & 8 only
