School is now in session. A reminder that Homeroom starts at 7:45 a.m. and our regular school day ends at 2:30 p.m.
For those who have yet to come to our building during school hours, we now are totally locked down during the school day. If you need to come in to the building to dismiss your child or drop off an item, you will have to press the button on the column just in front and to the right side of the front doors. You will then be buzzed in to the foyer to either sign out your child or drop off your item. If you need to come in to the building for a meeting or event, you will need to sign in and get a visitor badge as usual.

We are hoping for a diverse group of parents, students and teachers so come one, come all!

Crayola ColorCycle: WMS is excited to announce its participation in Crayola ColorCycle – an amazing program devised to turn used markers into energy! All around Westbrook Middle School students and teachers will be collecting used markers (including dry erase and highlighters) that are ready to be discarded. The markers will be sent to a facility where they will be converted into clean fuel. This fuel can be used to power vehicles, heat homes, cook meals and more! Please help support our efforts by sending your kids in with any used markers you may have around the house – even non-Crayola brands. Drop-off boxes will be located around the school for your child to deposit the markers. Thank you in advance for participating in our effort to increase sustainability! Happy recycling!

WMSXC traveled to Windham on Wednesday to compete with Windham, Moore, Lincoln, and Friends School. The girls ran the tough course first, which included a trip into the woods, where drastic hills and tree roots challenged each runner. 7th Grader Haley Ball ran most of the race in second or third place, keeping within 10 yards of the leader at all times. Toward the last quarter mile, Haley turned it on and outpaced the others to win first place with a time of 10:46. 6th Graders Megan Garber and Ella Giguere cracked the top ten, with times of 12:35 and 13:11 respectively.
Following the girls were the boys. Aidan Pecoraro (8th Grade) led the first part of the race, losing his lead but maintaining his spot in second right to the end of the race. He finished with a time of 9:56. Danny McCartney (7th Grade) and Noah Wiley were not far behind, finishing in 10th and 11th places and with times of 11:24 and 11:29.
