June 2, 2021 ~ Announcements

Good Morning!

We are back to our hybrid schedule - Group A Monday and Tuesday, Group B Wednesday and Thursday with everyone remote on Friday.

Here is an important message from Superintendent Dr. Peter Lancia regarding Covid vaccination for your child:

Dear Friends,

The Westbrook School Department has partnered with two local Pfizer vaccine distributors to offer vaccinations for students over age 12 for COVID 19. Thank you to Northern Light Health Care and Westbrook Fire Department! The vaccination is not required; it is voluntary and requires parent consent. The clinics will be held during school hours at WMS and WHS for both Group A and Group B students.

Group A: Tuesday, June 15 (dose #2)

Group B: Thursday, June 10 (dose #2)

Remote by Choice students will have the opportunity to be vaccinated at the Westbrook Community Center. The Westbrook Fire Department will be setting up a walk-in clinic soon on Saturdays from 8:30am-4pm.

If you have any questions, please reach out to your school nurse:

Jess Simmons at WMS, simmonsj@westbrookschools.org and Roberta Curtis at WHS, curtisr@westbrookschools.org

Take care, stay safe, and be strong!

Peter Lancia

Track club, baseball and softball will meet after school and practice from 2:45 to 3:50. In order to attend, each student must fill out the Daily Covid19 Questionnaire EVERY DAY BEFORE ARRIVING AT THE FIELD. Forms and additional information are available on the Westbrook Middle School athletic website. There will be no games. This is simply an opportunity to practice sport skills and drills.

Ireland Trip - April 2022: Sponsored by the WMS Leadership Club: This is the final call for our Early Enrollment Discount of $100 off our trip to The Emerald Isle and signing up now will give students an additional 3 months to pay than they would if they wait until the fall. Find tour details and a link to sign up here: https://www.eftours.com/tour-website/2427007CM. EF's Traveler Support Team is also available by phone at 800-665-5364. For any families who are still on the fence, I want to highlight a few of the reasons I decided to organize this tour with EF:

  • Their payment options help make the tour affordable for more families (and you get a TON for your money)

  • They've been doing this for over 50 years, and they have offices and staff all around the world—so they'll be there if we need them.

  • They're an accredited school, not a travel agent!

  • In order to give you additional flexibility, anyone that enrolls now will have the ability to change their mind and receive a full refund until August 1st, 2021.

I know this trip will be an invaluable experience for your child that will have such a positive impact on their personal and academic development. As a staff member, it will be one of the highlights of my year. Please enroll your child today, and contact us with any questions.

Sincerely, Junie Dugas & Stephen Moulen - Leadership Club Advisors
