May 13, 2022 ~ Announcements

Good Morning!

Mondays and Tuesdays are Blue Days; Thursdays and Fridays are White Days.

Wednesdays are Early Release Days (12:45 p.m.)

Happy Friday! We are in school Monday through Friday this week.

NWEA testing continues this week:

6th and 7th graders will take their tests on Thursday and Friday.

In addition, 5th and 8th graders will take the MEA Science Assessment on Wednesday, May 18th.

If your child is not present in school on their days of testing, they will be pulled from classes upon their return for make ups. Please let us know ahead of time if your child has a planned absence on test days. Please encourage your child to get a good night's rest and to eat breakfast or snacks in the morning. Breakfast foods are available to all students upon their arrival. For test days, please have your child bring a book or other non-electronic quiet activity to do when they are done testing.

GT Art: At this time, grades 5-7 will be invited to apply to the GT Art Plus Program for the 22/23 academic year. Art Plus packet applications will be available from NOW - June 1st.

You can find application packets outside Ms. Jacob’s art room, or on the district art department webpage. Art Department Website

Please complete the packet by June 1st and turn it into the front office.

Overdue Library Books: We still have a very large number of overdue books that we would really like to get back. During the past two years we have lost more books than usual, so we are trying extra hard to get books back this year. Students should check their lockers, backpacks, and under their beds :) for overdue library books. Students are welcome to stop in at the library if they have any questions about what they have out.

Hannaford Helps: We are pleased to have been selected for Hannaford Helps Schools program again this year. Starting this week (March 13th) and lasting through May 28th, 2022, you can help earn money for our school just by grocery shopping! Next time you're grocery shopping, throw in an extra treat for yourself (you deserve it!) and follow the super easy steps below to help raise money for our amazing school: Hannaford Helps Instructions

Important Vaccination Information: If your student has received their Covid vaccine, please take a picture of their vaccination card and email it to Nurse Jessica Simmons at so that she can update their record and be able to reference it for contact tracing. Thank you!!

Important Reminder: This is a reminder for parents that if your child calls you from school because they are not feeling well, please make sure they have seen our school nurse and wait for a call from her before you come pick them up. This is necessary for many reasons; one being, if applicable, the nurse may want to Covid test your child before they leave, and that is not possible if she is not aware that the child doesn't feel well. Thank you for your help in this matter.

Planned Absence Form: Please make one of these out if your student is going to be absent for 3 days or more.

Planned Absence Form

Media Use Form: Many of you have not completed this important form that is part of your yearly updating of your child's information. Please print off this form and have your student return it to the main office at WMS. Thank you! Media Use

Pool Testing: We are offering Pool Testing in grades K-6 this week. Pool Testing means that students and staff in a classroom will have a COVID-19 test once a week. It is another strategy to help prevent the spread of COVID 19. There is no cost to individuals or to the district. Pool Testing is voluntary and students will need parental permission to participate. If you are interested, please contact Jessica Simmons, school nurse, for a consent form to be sent home.

Homework Help: Homework help has started and will take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Come to a quiet place to do your homework and get one-on-one help from qualified staff. You can get snacks from the vending machine before you come up! (using your PersonID number in IC). Late bus is available. Check out the flyer below!
