Wednesday, May 5th, 2021 ~ Announcements
We are back to our hybrid schedule - Group A Monday and Tuesday, Group B Wednesday and Thursday with everyone remote on Friday.
NWEA Testing: This week is testing week for in-house students: Thursday, (May 6th) will be the reading test each morning for 90 minutes. Next week Tuesday, (May 11th) and Thursday (May 13th) will be the Math test. Please try to ensure a successful testing day for your student by making sure they get plenty of rest and nutrition to start their day!
Reminder: This is a reminder to parents that if your child is not taking the bus (when they regularly do), please let transportation know. This is especially important if your child is provided with special transportation on our early bus or vans!! Thank you!
SPRING ATHLETICS: We will be running an intramural model spring sports schedule for 7th and 8th grade student-athletes. Mondays and Tuesdays will be Group A students and Wednesdays and Thursdays for Group B students. Track club, baseball and softball will meet after school and practice from 2:45 to 3:50. In order to attend, each student must fill out the Daily Covid19 Questionnaire EVERY DAY BEFORE ARRIVING AT THE FIELD. Forms and additional information are available on the Westbrook Middle School athletic website. There will be no games. This is simply an opportunity to practice sport skills and drills. Practices are cancelled today for inclement weather!
6th Grade Nature Club: 6th Grade Nature Club will be meeting every Tuesday (for A group cohort) and Thursday (for B group cohort) from 2:45-4:00. Ireland Trip - April 2022: Sponsored by the WMS Leadership Club: Just a reminder that there are less than 10 spots on the bus left for our upcoming trip, The Emerald Isle. Find tour details and a link to sign up here: https://www.eftours.com/tour-website/2427007CM. EF's Traveler Support Team is also available by phone at 800-665-5364. For any families who are still on the fence, I want to highlight a few of the reasons I decided to organize this tour with EF:
Their payment options help make the tour affordable for more families (and you get a TON for your money)
They've been doing this for over 50 years, and they have offices and staff all around the world—so they'll be there if we need them.
They're an accredited school, not a travel agent!
In order to give you additional flexibility, anyone that enrolls now will have the ability to change their mind and receive a full refund until August 1st, 2021.
I know this trip will be an invaluable experience for your child that will have such a positive impact on their personal and academic development. As a staff member, it will be one of the highlights of my year. Please enroll your child today, and contact us with any questions.
Sincerely, Junie Dugas & Stephen Moulen - Leadership Club Advisors

Yearbook Information: The deadline for purchasing a yearbook has passed. Here is additional information you may need:
Can I buy a yearbook when they arrive?
Sometimes LifeTouch sends a few extra books. These books will be addressed once all ordered yearbooks have been delivered. Please look for announcements when it is time. We won’t be making a waiting list beforehand.
When will yearbooks be delivered?
Yearbooks are handed out to students at school during the final week(s) of school.
I found an error in the book or have criticism. Who do I contact?
The WMS yearbook is a student-centered club; we appreciate your support for the students who volunteered their time to document this year at WMS.
If there is a printing problem, such as blank pages, please email firstname.lastname@example.org when the book is delivered to students. We will make every attempt to replace your book.
Remote By Choice Info: If your child is having issues with their RBC program, the following are the remote staff that can be contacted by grade level:
Grade 5: Sue Cook (Exact Path) - email: email@example.com
Grade 6: Sharon Walsh (Edmentum) - email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Grade 7: Amanda Kuczewski (Edmentum) - email: email@example.com
Grade 8: John Miller (Edmentum) - email: firstname.lastname@example.org
You can also dial 207-591-6223 to contact remote staff.
Parent Portal: If you have not already done so, please set up your Parent Portal in Infinite Campus in order to update your child’s information. This includes naming people for us to call in case of an emergency if you are unavailable. This is especially important now if we have to send a student home because of COVID symptoms. Please follow this link: https://mecloud2.infinitecampus.org/campus/portal/parents/westbrook.jsp . If you have any questions, please contact email@example.com
Thursday Folders have resumed! Our schools send electronic notices and information about our schools and community every Thursday. Please look for them in your inbox. For example, Middle and High School families will find a notice about an upcoming virtual workshop today that is sponsored by our partners at The Opportunity Alliance entitled "Parenting Teens in a Pandemic". Thursday Folders are a great way to stay informed!
Free Meals: We continue to distribute bulk meals for Distance Learning days on Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:30 to 10am. A Westbrook School Department van will be at Walker Field (near the basketball court,) Westbrook Pointe (at the bus stop), and in the municipal parking lot on William Clarke Drive next to Westbrook-Warren Congregational Church. We hope you will stop by for meals. Meals for our Remote by Choice students will be distributed at Westbrook Middle School on Mondays, 1-2pm.
Face coverings must be worn at all times inside the schools and on the bus, unless an employee has provided a student with a momentary break while the student is at least six feet from any other individual, during meal times when proper distancing must be maintained, or in other limited situations. Face coverings are not optional; wearing one is required. Masks are available here at school if your child forgets one.
